Description
Kawai MS-134 Master Series Upright Piano
The Kawai MS-134 is the flagship of Kawai’s Master Series and represents a new level of craftsmanship and performance in an upright piano. At 134cm tall, it has been designed for the serious pianist who wants the tonal depth, control and refinement of a premium instrument, while retaining the practicality of an upright.
At the heart of the MS-134 is a large, tapered solid spruce soundboard, carefully designed to produce a warm, resonant and richly coloured tone. Hand-wound bass strings, inspired by those used in Shigeru Kawai grand pianos, combine with mahogany-core, double-felted hammers to give the instrument impressive depth in the bass and clarity throughout the register.
Kawai’s acclaimed Millennium III action uses lightweight ABS-Carbon components to provide excellent repetition, stability and control. NEOTEX white key surfaces and genuine ebony black keys further enhance the playing experience, giving the keyboard a particularly refined and reassuring feel.
The MS-134 also incorporates features rarely found together on an upright piano. Duplex scaling enhances the harmonic richness of the instrument, while a true sostenuto pedal can be used alongside a separate muffler mechanism, giving the pianist considerably greater expressive flexibility.
Visually, the Master Series is equally distinctive. Its substantial, softly rounded cabinet, grand piano-inspired lift-up top lid, polished brass fittings and beautiful bird’s-eye maple interior detailing give the MS-134 a presence that sets it apart from a conventional upright.
