Description

Shigeru Kawai SK-2 Grand Piano

The Shigeru Kawai SK-2 is a beautifully handcrafted 180cm grand piano, combining the refinement and tonal character of a premium Japanese instrument with proportions that make it particularly well suited to the home, teaching studio or smaller performance space.

Each Shigeru Kawai is created with an exceptional level of individual craftsmanship. At the heart of the SK-2 is a naturally seasoned solid Ezo spruce soundboard, selected for its ability to produce a rich, resonant and expressive tone. Handcrafted Shiko Seion hammers are individually voiced by Kawai’s Master Piano Artisans, while hand-wound Temaki bass strings help give the instrument impressive depth and warmth in the lower register.

The SK-2 also features Kawai’s acclaimed Millennium III action, using lightweight ABS-Carbon components to provide excellent repetition, control and responsiveness. The result is an action capable of everything from the most delicate pianissimo to powerful, confident playing.

At 180cm in length, the SK-2 offers an impressive combination of tonal depth, dynamic range and sensitivity without requiring the space of a larger concert instrument.

In addition to receiving excellent, personalised advice, we also had the opportunity to try out several pianos. After the piano had been chosen, it was delivered promptly....and it has been played with great joy ever since :)) Many thanks for the prompt answers to our questions, your flexibility, the warm and friendly communication, and the fantastic support!!
